Introducing Otter Bucks (formerly known as Scrip) – Have these warmer, sunny days got you thinking about spring? And about how every time the seasons change you realize that your kids have out grown all their clothes? Be prepared for spring/summer shopping and stock up now on Otter Bucks for Lands End(16%), LL Bean(15%), Gap/Old Navy(9%), REI(8%) and Macy’s(10%). These retailers are a great source of FREE MONEY for our school. They sell us cards at the discount noted above and we sell them to you at face value. You’re going to spend the money anyway – why not get some FREE MONEY for our kids too! While you’re at it, pick up some DSW(9%) and TJ Maxx(7%) to get something for you too!
It’s so easy. Bring your checkbook (or cash) M/W/F mornings and come to the Otter Bucks Table 8:55 – 9:10am (at the intersection of the Kindergarten and 1st/2nd grade hallways). This week, we will also be setting up the table after school on Thursday in the 3rd/4th/5th grade hallway on a trial basis. We also have a wide selection of other cards available – grocery, restaurants, retailers, spas, movie tickets and more! Come by and check it out.
If you would like to use a credit card, you can go online here but keep mind that it’s more money for our kids if we avoid credit card transaction fees. If you can’t make it to school when the scrip table is open, you can download a form here, pick up one from in front of the office or ask Laura Domoto to email one to you. We will also be giving away a $40 gift certificate and selling Otter Bucks at the PTA meeting on 2/7. |

Open enrollment for the 2012-13 school year will take place Feb. 27 through March 9.
All students will receive an assignment letter right before open enrollment begins. This will tell you your student’s initial assignment for next year, and will also provide information on open enrollment if you want to apply for a different attendance area or option school for next year.
Information on assignments for the 2012-12 school year is scheduled to be available on the SPS website and automated phone line (206-252-0212) on April 16. Mailed confirmation letters will be sent out the week of April 23.
Since Seattle Public Schools has shifted to a geographic-based model with the New Student Assignment Plan, most schools will not conduct a daytime school tour. However, most schools will host an evening open house, which is a great opportunity for prospective families and students to visit the school, meet with teachers and the principal and ask questions.
For information on school open houses, please visit the individual school websites at http://bit.ly/SPSschooldirectory |

Bring your Grown-up Lunch week - brown bag style! Your child can invite one parent/guardian, grandparent, caregiver, etc. to join him/her for lunch! Please note the date and time below of your child’s lunch period. (This is a special day for the students, so please, no siblings.)
Kindergarten Monday February 27th 11:25 – 11:50
First Grade Tuesday February 28th 12:00 – 12:30
Third Grade Wednesday February 29th 12:00 – 12:30
Second Grade Thursday March 1st 12:00 – 12:30
Fourth and Fifth Grade Friday March 2nd 11:30 – 11:55
We have decided to try something different this year – we ask everyone to bring their own lunch.
Maybe your child would make one for you? Or stop by a sandwich shop on the way to school? Or order a pizza? Whatever you can think of to make it an extra special day.
As a bonus, no RSVP is required.
We are hoping this new ‘brown bag’ format will allow the Grown-ups to give 100% of their focus to the kids. This event is a lot of fun for the kids and the grown-ups - we hope to see you there!
