Open Committee Chair Positions: 2010-11:
- Ice Cream Social Chair - Plans and coordinates Ice Cream Social (April/May)
- Annual Appeal Marketing Chair: Work on marketing pieces for the Annual Appeal alongside Chair and Grade Coordinators
- Arts Night Chairs: We are already planning ahead for this beg event and are in need of 2 volunteers to co-chair the event.. Arts Night will be run a little differently than in the past, including the addition of coordinators to oversee different aspects (i.e. Ticketing). As such, co-chairs will oversee and coordinate a team of volunteers.
All of the following committees are seeking volunteers:
- Annual Appeal (Elizabeth Chenette)- Assist in promoting and following through with direct giving campaign. (Nov - Jan)
- Arts Night (Chair position open) - Volunteers are needed to assist with ticketing, ushering, serving refreshments and hanging art. Volunteers also needed to help with gym set-up and running the sound system for family dancing.
- Art Room Helper - (Ms. Miller) Assist the art teacher with your child's classroom special art projects, help hang student art, and prepare art to go home.
- Assemblies Committee (Sue Pess) - Works with the Enrichment Chair to bring special authors, art, theatre and cultural performances to the school throughout the year.
- Auction (Alyssa Plut/Kim Miller)
- Audit Committee (Carin Tonina) - Review forms prepared by our Treasurer
- Boo Ridge Carnival (Stacy Choi/Roberta Williams/Pam Westrom)- Halloween party - decorations, set-up, assist at booths, and/or clean-up.
- Brown Bag Lunches (Norm Tonina)- These extremely popular lunches allow students to get an idea of what it's like to work in various fields. They require about 30 minutes of time during a lunch period. Volunteers are needed to share information about interesting skills/job with the students.
- Buddy Family Program (Nancy Mickely Sikora) - Help incoming families to View Ridge
- Chess Club (Stephanie Cohen Glass/Lori Olson)- Assist Chair with set up and snacks during chess club after school.
- Class Room Parent (Laura Domoto) - Two room parents to assist the teacher, set up the class roster, welcome new families, coordinate class parties and seek parent volunteers for special projects including science projects, field trips, and teacher appreciation.
- Community Giving Committee (Ruth Pappas/Laura Schneider) - Leading efforts on setting up a program for giving back to the community.
- Emergency kits (Stephanie Cunningham) - Organizes distribution of kits; receives completed kits and distributes to classrooms; purchases necessary emergency supplies (with PTA funds); and ensures barrels are cleared at year-end. (Sept and June)
- Family Picnic (Ann Margaret Johnson) - Plans and coordinates fall and spring all-familiy picnics

Family Support (Jennifer Priesman/Lynna Song) - Make meals, provide rides to school or school events, provide limited child care and other services on a short term basis to families in our school who are in need due to illnesses or other emergencies.

Field Day (Roberta Williams/Kim Miller) - Help with preparations and/or leading activities. (June)

Fifth Grade Promotion (Eileen Gray/Christy Napier) - Plans graduation activities including promotion ceremony and pool party.

First Week Packets (Andrea Baumgarten/Stephanie Wright Pickett) - Coordinates the distribution and collections of packets of information during the first week of school. (Aug - Sept)

Foreign Language (Maya Dammond) - Sets up the after school foreign language classes. (Sept - June)

Fourth Grade Camp (Roberta Williams/Mariska Kemna/Khandra Ismail) - Gather parents to chaperone Camp Orkila in the spring.

Green Team (Martha Taylor/ Alyssa Plut/ Tammy Brandt) - Leading "green" efforts at View Ridge. Supervise the student run (3rd and 4th graders) composting/recycling program during lunch periods.

Grown up to Lunch (Jessica Bradley) - Assist Chair with coordination and set up.

Ice Cream Social (Chair Position Open) - Serving ice cream, set up, cleanup. (Early Spring)

Library Helper - (Ms. Young) Shelve, cover or mend books, check books in and out, help with bulletin boards, help with visiting authors.
- Music Support (Mr. S) - Works with the music teacher to facilitate tutors and bring programs to the school. (Sept - June)
- Nurse's Office (Karen Johnston) - Make ice packs, sort emergency clothing and assist where needed. **Assist with Fall Health Screening (vision and hearing). Health Care Professionals are a plus (but not required). Need 4-5 volunteers for 1-2 full days in the Fall.
- OT/PT Helper - Help with sewing adapted clothing, and assisting when needed, Works with School OT/PT staff.
- Otter Mail (Michelle Madigan/Monica Blum) - Co-editors for weekly Otter Know and Otter Updates e-communications, PTA website
- Outdoor Classroom (Barb Rose Leigh/Jen Todd) - Manages Outdoor Classroom project funded by 2008 auction raise the paddle. Works with appropriate people to pull project together (landscape architect, teachers, staff, etc.)
- Pancake Breakfast (Phil Clark/Scott Loftin) - Preparation, set up serving and/or clean up. (February)
- Parking Lot Greeter (Alice Clark)- Assists in the morning and afternoon drop-off in church parking lot area.
- PE Helper (Jennifer Shaw) -To assist with a wide variety of tasks/projects. Will check in with PE Specialist weekly for current needs.
- Pre-loved Book Sale (Sarah Callender/Denise Douglas Baird/Audrey Rahmn) - Help with pre-loved book sale (Feb).
- Scholastic Book Fair (Stephanie Wright Pickett/Julie Bennett/Audrey Rahmn) - Help with Scholastic Book fair (Nov).
- School Pictures (Kelly Peterson) - Works with photography studio to schedule pictures and organizes volunteers on picture day (Oct/Nov).
- Science Resources (Jill Seebergh/ Khadra Ismaill) - Assist Science Night Co-Chairs during science night. Help set up exhibits etc. Assist with various science projects at school.
- Scrip Sales (Christy Napier/Kirsten Brockman) - Help sell scrip from 9:20 - 9:50 on any of the following mornings at school: M/W/F.
- Staff Appreciation and Hospitality (Eileen Gray/Kasey Downing) - Plans appreciation activities for conferences and PTA functions.
- Tutoring (Anne Touminen) - Help tutor students for 1/2 to 1 hour during or after school in math reading and writing.
- Walk/Bike to School Program (Tammy Brandt/Joy Undem) - Organize and monitor year long walk/bike to school program.
- Yearbook Committee (Susan Wood/Negar Shojaei) - Coordinates the creation, sale (via form in 1st day packet) and distribution of the View Ridge yearbook. (Sept. - June)
