Technology Update


The View Ridge PTA Tech Committee has been busy this fall. Here’s what we’ve been up to:

New Laptop Cart: We are purchasing another laptop cart for use in classrooms. This is the second cart purchased by the PTA in addition to the school testing cart that can be used by teachers outside of testing periods.
Projector Mounting: We are working with the school and district to mount the projectors in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms. For rooms where it makes sense we are investigating installing wall-mount short-throw projectors and new mounted screens.
Cafeteria AV: We are bringing in an AV expert to assess the current cafeteria AV equipment and educate the school on its full capabilities. We will identify possible improvements and fund upgrades if possible.
Printers: We are continuing to provide supplies for the four printers located throughout the school that were purchased in 2015 and assisting with maintenance.

Several parents have asked about the elimination of a dedicated Computer teacher at View Ridge. Teacher Monica Connors continues to own the Tech Curriculum established in 2016 and will assist classroom teachers in taking over computer education using the laptop carts and the computer lab. She continues to teach computer for the first grade classes and has time dedicated to co-teach with teachers who need assistance. In addition, the PTA Tech Committee is again coordinating teacher computer training to help teachers in the implementation of the Tech Curriculum and in their daily work.
