This year we have two View Ridge parent volunteers, Helen Wong and Katie Pitt, sharing the position Special Education Liaison.

What do Special Education Liaisons do?

We aim to build community and deepen understanding around special education and related issues, as well as enhance inclusiveness of special education students into the wider View Ridge community.  This includes family and community engagement programs, collaboration with the school administration and teachers, parent education and communication between the PTA and the special education community.  Special Education Liaisons address systemic issues on behalf of special education families at View Ridge, and seek to improve communication between families and Seattle Public Schools.

We are representatives of the View Ridge PTA as well as Seattle Public Schools’ Special Education PTSA group.
