It’s that time of the year where hearing and vision assessments take place for all our students at View Ridge (and at all Seattle Public Schools in accordance with state law). Hearing and vision can change with time and that is why assessments take place annually. We make it fun at View Ridge and students report actually enjoying the process. Assessments begin the last week of November and continue onward until winter break. In the event results come back with any surprises, the student would be checked a second time prior to Nurse Scott reaching out to a parent or guardian about making a possible referral for further hearing or vision assessments.
We know that many students at View Ridge also receive annual hearing and/or vision assessments by an outside health care provider. If there is important information you’ve already learned about your student’s hearing and/or vision, please don’t hesitate to contact Nurse Scott to discuss in more detail. By partnering with Nurse Scott, he can work to make sure your child’s unique situation as it relates to their hearing and vision is understood and addressed sufficiently by all relevant staff at View Ridge and best support your child in their learning and enjoyment of school and all its activities.
