One recent rainy day in NE Seattle, I had a real Seattle moment when I pulled up to the intersection at 40th and 70th in my Prius and every car at the 4-way stop was a Prius. Such an exciting moment for us true blue Seattleites. I took a moment to gesture that we were all in Priuses but another driver took it as me gesturing for them to go ahead so she gestured back that it was clearly my turn so I went but the Seattleness of this moment was not lost on me. I was born and raised in Seattle and it’s nice to know that some things have not changed, including the weather.
One thing you can count on is that, come fall, we’re going to have some cold, wet days. It’s inevitable. Here at VRE, we believe whole-heartedly in the benefits of physical activity on metacognition. We know that when kids get recess breaks, they are better able to learn. This is why we push the envelope when it comes to rainy day recess. We want kids outside getting their wiggles out so they can come back in ready to learn. With that said, please make sure your children are ready for the weather of the day. Expect that they will be outside in the rain and cold and that there’s truly no bad weather, just bad clothing. Please send them prepared for whatever mother nature may send our way. Thank you!
Upcoming Dates: Principal Coffee – October 7th
