Hello Otter friends!
Hope you’re all doing as well as you can out there in Corona land. It certainly is a strange time we find ourselves in, I can’t emphasize that enough. In fact I think I have said the same thing in my last several posts here….! But it’s true, every day, I am still amazed at what’s happening. And while we have all seen some pretty sad examples of humans behaving badly, I have seen many more instances of humans doing Good: helping one another, reaching out, being creative, and doing their best during this weird time in history.
Jill has posted our 3 future PTA meetings here, so I won’t repeat that. We will be officially voting on whether or not we approve online voting (Ahh, the joy of following official protocols!). But we will also be discussing how to wrap up this year. There are a small number of pending events, and we’d like to put all those things to bed as best we can. We are also discussing (Shhhh, don’t listen, teachers!) some ways that we can show our love and appreciation to teachers and staff, and how to be best prepared to start the PTA ball rolling again in the Fall.
Fall at our school may look different in some ways next year. I feel that we will all go into the next year with a little trepidation that school may be shut down at a moments notice. We should try to prepare for the worst, but hope for the best. Your trusty PTA friends are already thinking ahead to next year.
Simplifying some of our usual procedures will help us this fall, as well as paring down on expenditures, events, and extraneous activities that don’t serve a great number of people. If we streamline as best we can, we can be ready to hop back and forth between “regular life” and “quarantine life” if we need to. In my experience, simplification almost always leads to higher satisfaction all around.
That said, for the duration of the year, and even over the summer, if there are things that come up, ideas that you have, interesting or helpful observations, please do share them with us! We are continually looking for ways to improve the things that we do at our school.
So! Please join any of the upcoming PTA meetings, and do contact any of us if something comes up!
Your Co-Prez, JQ
