Disability History and Awareness: Virtual Reading Rooms

Facebooktwittermail

Understanding Disability history is important. Important enough that more than 10 years ago, state lawmakers passed a law to guarantee during the month of October each public school would “conduct or promote educational activities that provide instruction, awareness, and understanding of disability history and people with disabilities.”

As one way to promote Disability History and Awareness Month, the Seattle Special Education PTSA has created two virtual reading rooms with books, videos, news, and activities – one for young students and one for teens and adults. Spend some time with these great resources and ask your scholar what they’ve learned this month!
