Quick Things to Note about the Start of School:
Hi Everyone! Hopefully you have started receiving notes from your new teachers for this year and we are so excited to welcome you back to View Ridge! Just a couple quick FAQs for the start of the year, and if you haven’t seen our new Principal’s Welcome Letter, you should definitely read that!
School Supplies: If your child was a student last year, you had the option to pre-order school supplies. If you did not pre-order, the school supply lists are available here or from your teacher. If you do not remember if you pre-ordered (it’s been a crazy summer for us too), contact president@viewridgeschool.org to ask.
Lunches: Please note that the free meals for all student’s program is going away for the 2022-23 school year. Instead, elementary student breakfast will cost $2.25 and student lunch will cost $3.25. We do not have information yet about the availability of ala carte items (i.e., milk) Student meals may also be paid for with a credit card online at PayPams, www.paypams.com. PayPams require the Student’s ID number or meal account pin number (provided by the school) to create an account. The Student ID number can be found on report cards or by accessing The Source. PayPams charges users a payment transaction of $ 1.95 per student for each transaction. Also, if you would like to apply for free/reduced price meal, you can contact Culinary Services at www.seattleschools.org or request a form from our front office.
First Day: Your teacher will give you specific instructions about where their classroom is and where to meet them. On the first day of school (for Kinder and for Grade-level) there will be a meet-up for parents in the cafeteria immediately following drop-off. There will be coffee and it’s a chance to meet our Principal, PTA, other parents and get to know a little bit more about the school!
After School Programs: We are very excited to announce that these are finally coming back! We have missed them a lot too. We are just working out now with our building where we can host classes, but will hopefully have the details ironed out soon and you will be able to enroll for activities through https://www.6crickets.com/. Stay-tuned!
Calendar: While all events are posted on our PTA website and the school newsletter, we’ll also be offering a downloadable calendar that will include important district calendar dates as well as View Ridge activities! This way you will get all the updates you need as events are added throughout the year!
Volunteering: Volunteering in school is finally back! If you want to get more involved in the school, help out your teachers, tease your kid in front of their friends, and get a break during your day, volunteering is the best way to do that. Learn about the process to get approved and find opportunities starting at just 20 minutes of your time!
What to know about the Contract Bargaining Agreement: As of this posting, Seattle Public Schools and Seattle Education Association are in the process of bargaining to create a new teacher’s contract (CBA) for the school year. You can get updates and learn more about the issues here:

Thank you and we are so excited to see all your beautiful children next week!
