I hope you are all doing well as we continue to navigate through this unusual school year.
The following are a few updates:
During our staff meeting this Wednesday, we had an amazing speaker from UC Berkeley talk with us about Targeted Universalism. She is the Director of Othering and Belonging Institute which ties into our 13 Guiding Principles that we have been following in our Black Lives Matter curriculum this month. We will continue to build upon targeted universalism that directs attention to different experiences of different people where structures are targeted, not individual groups. We also discussed how belonging occurs when everyone feels they belong to our community and have a say in what and how things happen. We will continue building upon our structures with an eye on everyone feeling they belong.
Another update is that our physical grounds at View Ridge are starting to shape up with the shrubs trimmed around the building, our gym floor getting sanded with new lines painted on the floor, and our play courts are moving forward in having it power washed with new lighting soon.
We are excited to announce Mr. Goetz is going to continue the annual Music Night Out for this school year as a virtual event. It will be held on Microsoft Teams April 29th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Please look for the details on how to sign up in your homeroom weekly newsletters sent out by teachers.
And lastly, instead of Coffee with the Principal for the month of March, I will be scheduling a Community Chat for .March 16th at 7:00-8:30 pm. This chat will involve the first half hour where I will share updates on View Ridge with time to ask questions and share comments. The second half will be more interactive with questions and discussions around the values, beliefs and culture you want to uphold and add onto at View Ridge. Link for this meeting is below:
