Proposed Initiatives for this year:

  • Parents generally indicated:
    • Interest in: Parent Newsletter on resources, updates, etc.; and Virtual grade-level team meetings with families and parents
    • Less interest in: Parent-to-parent discussion groups; and Virtual meet and greets with school staff

Proposed Topics of Interest:

  • Parents generally indicated:
    • Interest in: Mental socio-emotional health; and how to help student(s) with online learning
    • Less interest in: Online bullying; testing/assessment this year; and racial justice

Other topics listed (items that were similar were grouped together for brevity):

  • Getting ready for middle school (5th grade specific)
  • School inequalities and directing resources to other schools that need help
  • Flexibility, especially for working families for picking up school items
  • Safety if/when we return to school
  • Promoting honor programs or advanced learning

Initially Planned Activity Interest:

  • Pause, I can’t even imagine participating in this year:
    • Boo Ridge
    • Family Dance
  • Scale-back or revise-if this was a little different & less of a focus, it would still be relevant to me
    • Science & Engineering Night
  • Mixed interest:
    • Yearbook
    • Pre-Loved Book Sale (spring)
    • 4th & 5th Grade Camp (tended towards positive)
    • Art & Ice Cream Social (spring)

  • Student and family social connections, both virtually and in person with safety guidelines (with fellow classmates; virtual enrichment classes, etc.)
  • Continuing Library Pick Up Times and other on campus social events (similar to Festive Check-Out)
  • Periodic Principal virtual meetings
  • Getting students back into school in person
  • Making software more user friendly

Yearbook:

  • Yes, but at a price under $20—57.6%
  • Yes, but at a price under $10—24.2%
  • Not going to purchase a yearbook even if offered—18.2%
