We have two opportunities to support View Ridge Elementary student wellness –
1) Food Drive:
If you’re available to contribute in-kind food and snack donations for View Ridge students who receive weekend food packs (Otter Packs), please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up.
Monday November 14 – Tuesday November 15: Donations can be put in the “Otter Pack” storage bins that are next to school entrances at drop off and pick up (1: Flagpole Door; 2: Intermediate Playground Playcourt near Library; 3: 4th/5th Grade Hall Door near the Music Portable.)
2) Assembly Event:
Wednesday November 16: No signup required, just show up! Kids and adults welcome to build community and have fun as we join together to assemble Otter Packs. Meet at 1:15 p.m. in the VRE Cafeteria. Food/snack donations and bags will be there ready for assembling. May take about 30 minutes (depending on # of attendees).
We expect to host this type of food drive and assembly event every couple months or so, so stay tuned for additional opportunities to support and connect if you miss this one.

Otter Packs are part of the Hunger Intervention Program (HIP). Additional info about the program:
One in six Washington children experiences hunger on a regular basis. Nearly one-third of Seattle Public School students receive Free-and-Reduced Price Meals. The Healthy HIP Packs Program, a discreet weekend food backpack program, provides an important food resource for the children in these families when school meals are not available.
HIP Packs provide nutritious and kid-friendly foods. Families are provided with additional food packs during school breaks.
