From SPS…
Dear View Ridge Elementary community,
I am pleased to announce that Assistant Principal Ed Roos has been selected to be the next principal of View Ridge Elementary. Ed Roos was one of multiple candidates interviewed by a hiring committee that included school staff, parents, and central office staff, before being recommended for the consideration of the Chief of Schools and Superintendent. Mr. Roos was selected because of his strong instructional leadership experience and relationships with the community of View Ridge Elementary.
Mr. Roos has served as the Assistant Principal at View Ridge since 2016, where he has developed and managed student leadership teams, mentored and coached teachers, and assisted in the development of Professional Learning Communities. Mr. Roos previously served as head teacher at Laurelhurst Elementary and Principal Intern at Green Lake Elementary, and has taught in Seattle Public Schools since 2003.
Principal Roos holds his Masters of Education from Antioch University; his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Western Washington University; and his Principal Certification from the University of Washington’s Danforth Educational Leadership program.
Principal Roos is looking forward to working with the students, staff, and families of the View Ridge community to continue to build on the strong foundation put in place by Principal Skjei, and to continue the great work with teacher collaboration and race and equity. His official start date will be August 1.
I would like to extend a thank you to Terri Skjei for serving as principal for the last 12 years, her deep commitment to the View Ridge community is greatly appreciated, the Seattle Public Schools community will miss her leadership and we wish her the best.
Please join me in thanking Ms. Skjei, and welcoming Mr. Roos as principal of View Ridge Elementary.
Sincerely,
Larry
