You may have heard some rumors floating around, so now is the time to set the record straight.
Next spring, View Ridge is going to host our very own celebration of all things related to comic books, graphic novels, superheroes, and role playing games. And it’s called…
OtterCon!
That’s right, folks, you heard it here first! Dust off your Batman masks, your capes, your boots, your 18-sided dice, and get ready for the biggest comic fest this side of 35th.
We will need lots of helpers to make OtterCon a success! And by helpers we mean kids, teachers, and parents! We are going to display art and comics made by kids; we’ll have people representing topics like Pokémon, Manga, D&D, international comics, Magic the Gathering, and more. We will host a real, live graphic novelist; we’ll have roundtable discussions and panels led by kids, parents, maybe even librarians! We are going to dive deep into the amazing, interesting world of comics!
Are you a 5th grader? Don’t despair! Talk to your parents, and come back to host a gaming table or panel!
This is already shaping up to be a really fun event. Can you tell we are excited?
Start brainstorming and talking with each other this summer. Email me (Julie Gordon) if you or your kids are interesting in being on the planning team. Look for the Signup box on the VR Volunteer Pink Sheets that will be coming home this spring and fall.
Can’t wait to get this going! Until then,
To infinity….AND BEYOND!
