Kindergartners will be given the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment in January 2019. Teachers will send out more specific information with the testing periods for each class. The MAP assessment is taken on a computer and typically takes about an hour each for math and reading. The assessment measures a child’s developing skills through a series of questions that adapts to the child’s level of learning. Research on MAP indicates the results are highly accurate. The results will help classroom teachers to measure growth and determine whether a student may need more support or more challenge. The results also may be a factor in Advanced Learning eligibility determinations. Further information on MAP assessments can be found on the district MAP page.
