Did you know that November is Native American Heritage Month? Now is a great time to explore the rich history of the peoples who inhabited this land before immigrants and colonists came. We live on Duwamish land here in King County. Try including a land acknowledgement at your holiday celebration! Let it spark a conversation about the history of Native American oppression and the ways Duwamish culture is still alive in our area. One of my favorite organizations is Real Rent Duwamish, in association with the Coalition of Anti-Racist Whites (CARW). If you’re interested in taking action in support of the Duwamish, check this out!
