For those of you new to this event, we plan to have 20+ carnival games like hoop the witch hat, fishing for prizes game, pin the eye on the monster, and cornhole. We’ll have activities like face painting, balloon animals, a pastry hop, and an art table for coloring and crafts.
Additionally, there will be “chill rooms” to relax from the hustle and bustle – a movie room and a story room.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Boo Ridge?
- According to our VRE PTA A-to-Z, Boo Ridge is our Fall carnival and community builder full of games and fun. Normally held on the Friday closest to Halloween, October 31st.
- For those of you new to this event, we plan to have 20+ carnival games like hoop the witch hat, fishing for prizes game, pin the eye on the monster, and cornhole. Costumes are welcome but we recommend to keep costumes kid-friendly and not “scary”
We need you! Boo Ridge is put on solely by volunteers, so the more volunteers we have to help
with set-up, game monitoring, and clean-up, the more fun we can have! Former VRE students
as well as any adults are invited to help. Please see the links below to sign-up for decorating,
helping with games, and for prize and candy donations.* Please contact us at

- Please have any donations delivered by Thursday, October 27th
- Donation wish lists are suggested items created to accommodate busy families
- Please be mindful of shipping time/deliveries
- If you still want to contribute but missed the deadline, feel free to pick up a similar item at a local store. All donations are welcome.
- If there are leftovers, Boo Ridge Committee will donate to VRE classrooms for their Fall Celebration parties at the end of the day on Monday.
- People of all ages and abilities have different needs. Boo Ridge can be a high sensory environment with lights, sounds, and masks. Kids, especially younger ones, might have a hard time with a large crowd. We want to make sure that all people can experience Boo Ridge Community Carnival at meet the kids where they are at.
- Early Access is designed to create access for families who might need a quieter, less crowded space to experience Boo Ridge games. This is an accessible option for students and family members who might prefer a space with lower music, lower lights, minimal crowd, and the option of a prize or candy (food allergy)
- Questions on accommodations? please reach out to volunteer@viewridgeschool.org or dei@viewridgeschool.org
- As community transmission of the flu, covid, and other RSV is being circulated, we ask that View Ridge Elementary students and families limit their attendance to VRE families only. We know in the past that Boo Ridge was a wonderful event for all, but we discussed it with community members and the building.
- The “Otter Way” is being kind and respectful and at this time our school community is asking that we be mindful that our teachers, students, and staff are all in this together.
- Masking is optional, but because this event is indoors, we ask you to use your best judgment. If you have a cold or a cough, wear a mask!
- For View Ridge Elementary Families, you might have recalled food trucks were on site at Boo Ridge.
- As of March 18, 2019, SPS District restricted the permitting of Food Trucks on school property.
- Due to the logistics, cold weather, and lack of lighting, VRE PTA decided that food trucks on the street or at church would be prohibitive for kids in families with low visibility due to their costumes. The Executive Board of VRE PTA made the decision to communicate to families to “come having had” or to address their dinner plans as a family unit. Thank you for your understanding!
